Update on the Teterboro Airport Plane Crash
At approximately 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2005, a Challenger CL-600 aircraft bound for Midway Airport, Chicago skidded across six lanes of traffic on Route 46 and crashed into a warehouse on Route 46 in the town of Teterboro. Early indications are that the plane failed on takeoff and struck a vehicle on Route 46 before crashing into the Strawberry Distribution warehouse. There were 11 people on board the aircraft, including 3 crew-members. In addition, two individuals in a vehicle and two other people on the ground were involved in the accident. There are currently no fatalities, but those injured also include five firefighters. The injured were taken to Hackensack University Hospital and Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck. As a result of the crash a fire broke out at the scene. Port Authority Police assisted by various local fire departments worked to get the fire under control.
