PLEASE NOTE: As of January 31, 2016, PATH discontinued the sale of the SmartLink Gray Card. If you purchased a SmartLink Gray Card prior to this date, it will continue to be accepted at PATH turnstiles until all trips are used, or until the expiration date printed on the back of the card, whichever comes first. SmartLink Card users may purchase a $2.75 one-trip product with cash, debit/credit card, or transit benefits debit card from any PATH vending machine. Effective March 3, 2013, a $1.00 fee will be charged for each new MetroCard purchased at a MetroCard Vending Machine (including those at PATH stations) or station booth, or commuter rail station Click here for additional information about the MetroCard $1.00 New Card Fee.

The PATH SingleRide Ticket costs $2.75 and may be purchased with cash, debit/credit card, or transit benefits debit card from large vending machines in any PATH station. MetroCard may be purchased with cash, debit/credit card, or transit benefits debit card from any PATH or New York City Transit vending machine. The $2.75 PATH fare is deducted with each use of a MetroCard with dollar value on it. The PATH SingleRide Ticket is valid for two hours from time of purchase.

The PATH 2-trip MetroCard may be purchased with cash only from blue dispensers at all New Jersey stations, as well as from PATH station blue dispensers at World Trade Center, 33 St, 9 St, Christopher St, and downtown 14 St and 23 St stations in New York. This card is non-refillable. One trip is deducted from the card with each use.

One-Way Fares

  • The full one-way fare is $2.75. Children ages 5 and under ride PATH free.

    SmartLink is the primary fare card of the PATH system. PATH also accepts the PATH Single Ride Ticket and Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard.
  • Seniors (65 and older), the one-way fare is $1, payable with the PATH Senior SmartLink Card.

Discounts

  • A discounted fare of $2.10 is available to all SmartLink customers who purchase a 10-, 20- or 40-trip product. Savings are also provided to SmartLink customers purchasing 1-, 7-, or 30-day Unlimited Passes.
  • Seniors age 65 and over may apply for the Senior SmartLink Card.

Group Sales

  • Groups traveling on PATH may purchase SmartLink tickets directly by contacting the SmartLink Center at 1-800-234-PATH (7284), Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5 p.m. (closed major holidays).
  • A minimum order of $1,000 is required.
  • There are no discounts for group sales. SmartLink tickets are already discounted when purchasing 10 trips or more.
  • Please provide a minimum of five (5) business days to process your order.
  • A prepaid shipping label is required for group tickets being mailed.

PATH Vending Machines

  • Large PATH vending machines allow customers to add trips to their SmartLink and Senior SmartLink cards, and also sell the PATH SingleRide Ticket and the Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard. These machines accept cash, debit/credit cards, and transit benefits debit cards.
  • While small PATH vending machines conduct most of the same transactions as the large PATH vending machines, they do not sell the PATH SingleRide Ticket. These machines only accept debit/credit cards and transit benefits debit cards.

PATH Turnstiles

  • PATH turnstiles do NOT accept cash, the MTA SingleRide Ticket, the MTA Reduced-Fare MetroCard or EasyPayXpress MetroCard.
  • Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard holders may use their card for up to four people at any one time within an 18-minute period.
  • The PATH SingleRide Ticket is valid for two hours from time of purchase.
  • Should you lose your MetroCard in the turnstile feeder, contact the station's Passenger Information Agent immediately or pick up the Passenger Assistance Phone to provide relevant information on the station, turnstile number and time of day.

Suspension of Service

Passengers who have paid their fare but have not been able to travel on PATH because of suspension of service are entitled to a trip reimbursement. Please use the Passenger Assistance Phone at the station or call the PATH Information Center at 800 234-PATH (7284). Reimbursement does not apply to SmartLink customers who paid with an Unlimited Ride pass.

Fare Evasion Warning

Warning: Fare evasion is punishable under the laws of New York and New Jersey. Offenders are subject to summons or arrest.

Fare Card Terms & Conditions

  • MetroCard is valid until the expiration date on the back of the card. The PATH Single Ride Ticket is valid for 2 hours from the time of purchase.
  • PATH does not refund trips on unregistered SmartLink Cards. To address problems with your MetroCard, visit the New York City Transit MetroCard website - or call 800 234-PATH (7284) to speak with a Customer Service Representative.
  • If you choose to use our free registration service for your SmartLink Card and your Card is lost, stolen or damaged, you are eligible for replacement of the trips/days remaining on the Card at the time of notification to the SmartLink Center. You may notify the SmartLink Customer Service Center by using the Replacement Card feature in your Web Account or by calling the SmartLink Customer Service Center at 800 234-PATH (7284) and select the option for SmartLink. A $5 card replacement fee will apply.
    Note: All Senior SmartLink Cards are automatically registered with PATH.
  • Should you lose your MetroCard in the turnstile feeder, contact the station's Passenger Information Agent immediately or pick up the Passenger Assistance Phone to provide relevant information on the station, turnstile number and time of day.
