PATH Forward

Post-Sandy Weekend Work

World Trade Center & Exchange Place Stations | MAY 2014 UPDATE

From March 29 through May 4 of 2014, the Port Authority of NY & NJ conducted a six-weekend ferry service pilot between Jersey City and Lower Manhattan. The pilot service was operated by NY Waterway, under Billybey Ferry Company.

As shown in the Pilot Ferry Service Statistics table (below), nearly 10,000 riders used the ferry service most weekends during the pilot, with ridership exceeding that figure one weekend. Such strong usage clearly demonstrated the service was a valuable alternative mode of transportation for PATH riders inconvenienced by the weekend work closures.
