PATH riders can save money on their commutation costs by taking advantage of their employer-sponsored tax-free transit or commuter benefits program.
Benefits are available two ways:

Commuter Benefits Prepaid Debit cards cannot be used to set up SmartLink Automatic Replenishment.
Benefits Prepaid Debit Cards may also be used at PATH vending machines to add trips/passes to your SmartLink Card. If you do not have a SmartLink Card, you can purchase a SmartLink Card without any preloaded trips for five dollars ($5.00) cash only, from designated SmartLink Card dispensers at the following stations: Newark, World Trade Center, Journal Square, Exchange Place, Newport, 33 Street, and Hoboken. After obtaining a SmartLink Card, you can add trips/passes to your SmartLink Card using your Commuter Benefits Prepaid Debit Card at any station vending machine.
With this efficient and time-saving option, employers have benefits automatically loaded onto the SmartLink cards of their employees, in the form of trips or a 30-Day Unlimited Pass.
Products become available for use on the SmartLink Card by the first day of the benefit month.
