PATH Rail Initiatives

Every PATH rider saves, on average, 2.17 pounds of CO2 per trip. In 2012, PATH riders helped save over 80,000 tons of greenhouse gases, which is equivalent to saving over 8.2 million gallons of gasoline.

All of the agency's new development projects are designed to achieve LEED certification and all buildings constructed at the WTC site will be built to LEED Gold standards.

Greening Vehicles & Equipment

Across the agency, the Port Authority's vehicular fleet is comprised of hybrids, biodiesel, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), ethanol 85, and hydrogen vehicles. More than 80 percent of the Port Authority's on-road fleet is green.
