Mark 80th Anniversaries

Eighty years ago, in October and November 1931, the Port of New York Authority, as it was then known, opened two of the most iconic bridges in the nation – the George Washington Bridge and the Bayonne Bridge.

Port Authority Chairman Taps Committee
To Perform Comprehensive Review of Agency

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Chairman David Samson announced Sept. 30 the members of a Special Committee of the Board of Commissioners to conduct a full review of the Authority's past and current governance, management and financial practices. The committee was established in response to the direction of Governors Chris Christie and Andrew Cuomo as part of the Port Authority's toll and fare increase.

Chairman Samson, Port Authority Vice Chairman Scott Rechler and Commissioners Jeffrey Lynford and William "Pat" Schuber will comprise the special committee of the board.

As part of this effort, the Board is seeking an independent external audit of the agency.
