Accessibility

The Port Authority is committed to making all of our facilities as accessible as possible.

All AirTrain trains and stations are ADA-compliant, with every station designed to ensure the convenient boarding of riders with mobility challenges. There are two designated wheelchair locations on each vehicle, and there is a wide center aisle for easy passenger movement.

All AirTrain stations have elevators and escalators. There are connectors at Jamaica Station to and from the LIRR train platforms and station, as well as to and from subway trains at the Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue station. Street-level entrances are wheelchair accessible.

AirTrain stations feature emergency/general information phones and public pay phones.

Transfers between the AirTrain Howard Beach station and the Howard Beach subway station, as well as to and from the streets, are seamless with wheelchair-accessible elevators and walkway.

For the hearing impaired, there are visual signs on the train and in the stations.

For the visually impaired, there are destination announcements on board the train and guide dogs are welcome. There are also tactile platform warning surfaces, as well as raised-letter and Braille signs.
