The center, on the west end of the airport’s Central Terminal Building, gives passengers a place to make arrangements for authorized ground transportation services, book hotel accommodations and car rentals, check flight information, and pick up New York City tourism brochures. There is also limited access to the Internet from kiosks with links to travel-related Web sites. More than 20 centers will be open in the terminals at all four of the Port Authority's airports by 2012.

Airport customers are advised to always avoid car service drivers who approach and offer a ride. Even if they look official, they are not authorized to solicit passengers. For metered taxis, customers can see the uniformed Taxi Dispatcher, located outside the Arrivals area. Information on authorized providers is also available by calling 1-800-AIR-RIDE.

In mid-December, AirTrain JFK celebrates five years of providing convenient, economical service to passengers who count on it for a smooth, fast ride around the clock, seven days a week. AirTrain JFK provides fast, convenient, eco-friendly connections to the Long Island Rail Road and New York City’s subways and buses. Its counterpart, AirTrain Newark, lets New Jersey Transit and Amtrak riders get to Newark Liberty International quickly and easily. Airports Council International-North America recognized 25 airports, Newark Liberty International and JFK among them, for their concessions programs. Entries were judged by an independent panel of professionals from the various disciplines reflected in the contest. Newark Liberty's Terminal C received two first-place awards: Best Specialty Retail Program for Large Airports and the Best Convenience Retail Program for Large Airports. JFK’s Terminal 7 won first place for Sapphire Lounge in the Best New Food and Beverage Concept category. JFK’s Terminal 8 won second-place accolades for Best Convenience Retail Program for Large Airports. And Terminal 8’s Solstice Sunglass Boutique placed third in the Best New Retail Concept category.
