Stewart International Airport celebrated its third anniversary of Port Authority stewardship with the announcement of three new services. Service to Cancun, Mexico via AppleVacations.com and Allegiant Airlines runs Feb. 12 through April 23, 2011, with a convenient nonstop 8 a.m. Saturday departure from Stewart and an 11:55 a.m. return from Cancun. As a special incentive to travel agents, for every three Cancun air and hotel package bookings made from Stewart Airport via Allegiant Airlines by December 31 for travel February 12-April 16, 2011, an agent or their client will fly free. To allow for the arrival and processing of international travelers, a new Federal Inspection Services facility will be completed in the Stewart terminal by the end of November.
Beginning February 17, 2011, Delta Air Lines will offer a second nonstop flight to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on CRJ-700 aircraft with 70 seats. The flight will depart Stewart daily at 5:54 p.m. and arrive in Atlanta at 11:06 p.m. The new inbound flight departs Atlanta at 2:59 p.m. and arrives in Stewart at 5:25 p.m. This brings total Delta flights from SWF to five daily -- three to Detroit Metro Airport and two to Atlanta.
JetBlue Airways recently announced an increase from one to two daily nonstop flights from Stewart to Orlando International Airport beginning June 16, 2011. This second daily flight, which is already on sale, will operate during peak travel seasons throughout the year, including spring, summer and winter. In addition to its Orlando service, JetBlue offers nonstop service from Stewart to Fort Lauderdale.
Conveniently located just 60 miles north of New York City, Stewart International is a hassle-free experience, offering fast and easy check-in and security. Since taking over Stewart, the Port Authority has invested significantly in the airport’s physical facilities. Customers can see visible changes with the addition of Customer Care Representatives, new way-finding signs, the addition of baggage carts, extra seating in the baggage claim and gate areas and expanded bus service to the Beacon Train Station. A long-term parking area, which puts passengers right next to the terminal, was recently expanded, bringing the total number of public parking spaces at Stewart to more than 1,600.
