An antiquated air traffic control system that is dependent on ground-based radar technology is threatening the efficiency of our airports and stifling economic growth. The Federal Aviation Administration’s Next Generation Air Transportation System - called NextGen - will alleviate delays at the nation’s most congested and delay-prone airports but is years away from full implementation.
NextGen is the transformation of the National Airspace System from a ground-based system of air traffic control to a satellite-based system of air traffic management, utilizing a portfolio of policy, procedures and 21st-century technology.
We urge Congress and the Administration to implement NextGen at our nation’s airports, starting with the most congested and delay-prone airspaces like the metropolitan New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles areas. Learn more and join our efforts.
