Escort Rules & Procedures

“Escorting” is accompanying an individual that does not possess an Airport Security ID Card into the secure areas of the airport. Individuals permitted to conduct escorts must have an EP or EV endorsement displayed on their Airport Security ID Card. It is under the company’s discretion to determine which individuals require this privilege and endorsement. Please refer to the rules below to ensure proper escorts are conducted.

Requirements to perform an Escort

  • An authorized escort must be for approved business purposes only
  • All escorts must be conducted by a valid cardholder
  • All escortees must remain within line of sight. You must be able to maintain verbal communication without the use of electronic devices with the escortee
  • A valid cardholder may escort no more than 5 people at a time
  • A valid cardholder may escort no more than 2 vehicles at a time at JFK, LGA and EWR. A valid cardholder may escort no more than 5 vehicles at a time at SWF.
  • All Sterile Area Escorts must enter and submit to screening through the TSA screening checkpoint
  • All escorts must be vetted against the No Fly/Selectee List by the appropriate parties authorizing the escort
  • All escortees must have proper government issued credentials throughout the escort
  • A valid temporary badge, escort authorization form or airline gate pass must be presented for all escorts to be considered authorized
  • At the end of the escort all individuals being escorted (escortees) must be escorted out of the secured areas
  • All escortees must be documented at point of entry by the appropriate parties (eg. Security guards)

The following individuals should never be escorted under any circumstances:

  • Individuals whose Airport Security ID Card has expired or invalid cannot be escorted
  • Individuals whose ID has been lost or stolen and not yet replaced cannot be escorted
  • Individuals who are current Airport Security ID Cardholders cannot be escorted
  • Individuals who have been denied an Airport Security ID Card cannot be escorted
  • Individuals whose privileges have been revoked, suspended, or denied cannot be escorted
