MAKE THE CONNECTION FROM MIDTOWN MANHATTAN
Connect To AirTrain From Local Trains and Subways
There are a few ways to get to AirTrain from Midtown Manhattan. Here are the most direct routes:
•  Go to New York Penn Station. New York Penn Station is a major transportation hub offering connections from New York City subways and buses, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), AmtrakŪ and NJ TRANSITŪ.
 •  At Penn Station take an LIRR train to Jamaica Station. Not every train stops at Jamaica Station, so be sure to refer to an LIRR schedule.
Or,
•  Take the E subway to the Sutphin Blvd-Archer Ave stop.

How To Transfer To AirTrain At Jamaica Station

When you exit the LIRR at Jamaica Station or the subway at the Sutphin Blvd-Archer Ave stop, follow the signs for AirTrain. You will go up one level from the LIRR platform and several levels from the subway platform, then pass through the fare gates and onto the AirTrain platform. It takes approximately 5 minutes to get from the LIRR or subway platforms to AirTrain. Take a virtual tour of the station now.

You will need a Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard with at least $5 in value to go through the AirTrain fare gates. Go to Cost & Tickets for more information.

Buying a ticket
Connect to AirTrain with a Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard with at least $5 in value. You can buy a MetroCard at Jamaica Station, as well as at any subway station, LIRR station, and at MetroCard vendors throughout New York City.

You must also pay the separate fare for LIRR or subway service. We recommend that you purchase your LIRR ticket before you board the train.

You may purchase a single Pay-Per-Ride MetroCard for $7 to pay both the $2 subway fare and the $5 AirTrain fee.

For more information, visit Cost & Tickets.
