Holland Tunnel Planned Weekly Construction


BAYONNE BRIDGE TO BE CLOSED THIS WEEKEND; LANE CLOSINGS SCHEDULED FOR GWB, LINCOLN AND HOLLAND TUNNELS

The Bayonne Bridge will be closed this weekend, and lane closings are planned for the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel and Holland Tunnel this weekend and/or next week for ongoing construction and repair projects.

Bayonne Bridge:

  • The bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, September 8, through 5 a.m. Monday, September 11, to accommodate ongoing construction. When the bridge reopens at 5 a.m. Monday, September 11, the JFK Boulevard on-ramp to Route 440 southbound will remain closed through the day and will reopen at 5 a.m. Tuesday, September 12. The Avenue A off-ramp from Route 440 south will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, September 8, through noon Saturday, September 9, and traffic will be diverted at 5th Street. This closure will support the planned gantry shift.
  • The bridge will be closed during the overnight hours from Monday through Thursday, September 11 through September 14, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. to accommodate ongoing construction work.

Holland Tunnel:

  • One westbound lane in the tunnel will be closed during overnight hours from Sunday, September 10, through Thursday, September 14, from 11:59 p.m. each night through 5:30 a.m. the following morning. The closures are necessary for ongoing tunnel repairs.
  • One eastbound lane in the tunnel will close during overnight hours from Sunday, September10, through Thursday, September 14, from 11 p.m. each night through 5 a.m. the following morning. The closures are necessary for ongoing tunnel repairs.

George Washington Bridge:

  • The bridge’s upper level westbound will have two lanes closed from 10 p.m. Friday, September 8, through 10 a.m. Saturday, September 9, and from 10 p.m. Saturday September 9, through 10 a.m. Sunday, September 10.
  • Henry Hudson Parkway Northbound Exit 14 will be closed from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, September 9, and from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 10. Traffic will be diverted to Henry Hudson Parkway Northbound Exit 15.

Lincoln Tunnel:

  • One inbound lane (to New York) will be closed on the helix and east ramp from 11 p.m. Friday, September 8, through 8 a.m. Saturday, September 9, for the repair and relining of the tunnel’s water mains.
