Detours and Street Closures

Street Closures

BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY
  • Margaret Street, between West 4th Street and Bayview Court, is closed to through traffic until 2019
  • West 4th Street, between Avenue A and JFK Boulevard, is closed to through traffic until December 2017
  • Juliette Street, between Avenue A and JFK Boulevard, is closed to through traffic until December 2017
  • West 3rd Street, between Avenue A and JFK Boulevard, is closed to through traffic until November 2017.
STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK
  • Richmond Terrace, between Newark Avenue and Morningstar Road, is closed weeknights, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, through December 31, 2017

Detours

Staten Island Ramp Closures

To further advance construction, the Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Project requires closure of certain on- and off-ramps that connect the bridge to local Staten Island streets

Off-Ramp Closure

Travelers who normally exit southbound Route 440 using Exit 13-Richmond Terrace/Trantor Place, will now use Exit 12-Forest Ave and Willow Road for local street access.

On-Ramp Closure

Travelers who use the Richmond Terrace/Trantor Place on-ramp to access the Bayonne Bridge, will now take Port Richmond Avenue south to Trantor Place to access the Forest Avenue on-ramp, which leads to the bridge.

Bayonne Ramp Closures

On-Ramp Closure

Travelers who normally use the Avenue A on-ramp will now follow the detour to the JFK Boulevard on-ramp.

Off-Ramp Closure

Travelers who normally use the JFK Boulevard off-ramp will now use the exit for East 5th Street.
