What discounts and discount plans are available to E-ZPass users at Port Authority bridges & tunnels?

Port Authority NY/NJ Staten Island Bridges Plan

The Port Authority NY/NJ Staten Island Bridges Plan (NY/NJ SIB Plan) is $5.25 per trip at the Goethals Bridge, Bayonne Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing, provided you make at least 3 New York-bound trips in a calendar month. This reduced rate is available to all E-ZPass customers with non-commercial plates and private accounts who enroll in the plan in New York or New Jersey. If no trips are made across the Goethals Bridge, Bayonne Bridge or Outerbridge Crossing in a calendar month, no plan-related charges will be made to your E-ZPass account. You will no longer be charged for any unused trips during the month.

Green Pass

Travel off-peak in a low-emission vehicle with the Green Pass and save.

The Port Authority Green Pass Discount Plan rewards drivers using low-emission vehicles with a substantial discount.

Drivers with qualifying vehicles who register for the Port Authority Green Pass Discount Plan will receive a green E-ZPass tag and be charged a specially discounted toll during off-peak hours.

  • Green Pass customers are charged a $4.75 toll during off-peak hours.
  • To enroll in the Port Authority Green Pass Discount Plan, call 800-333-8655 (New York Service Center). Be sure to have your account number or tag number and PIN for account access.
  • The Port Authority Green Pass discount only applies to Port Authority bridges and tunnels, though your Green Pass can be used at any crossing or road that accepts E-ZPass as a form of toll payment.
  • Vehicles that qualify for Green Pass are certified to the California Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV) standard and achieve a United State Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) highway fuel economy rating of 45 miles per gallon or more, or are pre-model year 2005 hybrid vehicles which are certified to the California Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) standard and achieve a USEPA highway fuel economy rating of 45 miles per gallon or more.

All vehicles on New York's Clean Pass Program Vehicle Eligibility List are eligible for the Port Authority Green Pass Discount Plan.

Carpool Plan

Carpooling is both eco-conscious and the most economical way to travel.

The Port Authority Carpool Plan provides the largest toll discount at the Port Authority bridges and tunnels. By carpooling, you save the most money and reduce the number of vehicles on the road.

  • The toll for Port Authority Carpool customers is $4.25 per vehicle at all hours.
  • You must have an E-ZPass account and you must register for the Port Authority Carpool Discount Plan.
  • To register for the Carpool Plan, call 800-333-8655 (New York Service Center) or 888-288-6865 (New Jersey Service Center). Be sure to have your account number or tag number and PIN for account access.
  • Three or more people must be in a vehicle to be eligible for the discount (no commercial vehicles qualify).
  • Customers must use a staffed "Cash-E-ZPass" toll lane and come to a complete stop so the toll collector can verify the number of occupants in the vehicle.

Off-Peak Discounts

The discounted Off-Peak toll for vehicles with two axles and single rear wheels is $8.25. See toll chart for a full listing of toll rates for all vehicle types during both Off-Peak and Peak hours. Peak hours at Port Authority crossings are weekdays from 6 – 10 a.m.and 4 – 8 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. All other hours are considered off-peak.
