The Port Authority of NY & NJ Summer Internship Program


About the Program

The Port Authority offers 12-week paid internships to graduate and undergraduate students that provide the opportunity to work with knowledgeable and experienced professionals on various agency projects and initiatives. The internship program is divided into two sub-divisions - Management and Engineering/Architecture. We welcome applications from current graduate and undergraduate students from a wide array of disciplines.

  • Management Internships
    Management Interns support their departments with critical projects such as analyzing regional demand data for our airports, conducting interview assessments, development of our annual budget, designing sustainability initiatives, and developing operational plans for retail development.
  • Engineering and Architecture Internships
    Engineering and Architecture Interns will assist experienced engineers with planning, design, construction management and supervision, materials testing and inspection, and information technology management for projects at various Port Authority facilities.

To be considered for our Summer Internship Program students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming school semester. We welcome applications from current graduate and undergraduate students in a wide array of disciplines.

The Selection Process

  • The hiring department/unit conducts interviews in late February and the process will continue until offers are made to selected candidates in mid-April.
  • Interns are selected based on academic achievement, analytical and communication skills, and work experience.
