Why G-MAP?

To improve the efficiency of freight flows throughout the New York—New Jersey region across all modes of transport through operational, regulatory and infrastructure reforms.

To support and enhance the New York - New Jersey metropolitan region’s position as a global center - a hub of commerce, culture, finance and trade - through strategic goods movement initiatives.

Guided by the leadership of Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and in cooperation with their government and industry partners, the New York-New Jersey region has undertaken development of a multi-jurisdictional, sustainable, integrated and efficient multimodal goods movement system, with phased implementation through the year 2035. The partner agencies have recognized the need for a cooperative effort to maintain the region’s global competitiveness and to support affordable goods movement services for the region’s residents and businesses.
