Additional Safety and Security Tips

Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
Criminals often confront people who appear distracted. Notice those who notice you.

Never leave your belongings unattended.
Keep your luggage, handbag and packages with you at all times.

Carry wallets and handbags securely.
Carry a wallet in the inside pocket of a jacket or in the front pants pocket. Keep your handbag close to your body, and be sure to zip and lock the flap.

Beware of pickpockets.
If a stranger directs your attention to a substance on your clothes, or is trying to distract you, they may be a pickpocket and you are the target.

Avoid crowding, when possible.
This may minimize the chance of losing your property to pickpockets.

Plan your trip.
Know how to get to your destination by the most direct and safest route, especially when you are not using your normal schedule or route.

Limit the amount of cash you carry.
Plan purchases in advance; carry cash for those purchases only. If you do carry large sums of money, divide it between your purse, pocket, and wallet. Use credit cards when possible.

Be on guard while banking at an ATM.
