CSX Intermodal is pleased to announce the opening of the new Buffalo Intermodal Container Terminal Facility (ICTF). The new terminal offers increased capacity, improved technology and additional service lanes compared to the old Buffalo intermodal facility.
The new CSX terminal in Buffalo offers increased capacity compared to the previous facility.
The new terminal is a result of public— private partnership efforts by the State of New York and CSX Corporation to expand transportation services into the region. CSX Intermodal offers service between the New York metropolitan area and the new Buffalo ICTF via its South Kearny, N.J. terminal. The service provides a means for both domestic and international containers to reach the Buffalo and Toronto, ON markets six days per week. Buffalo ICTF will eventually see regularly scheduled service via on-dock rail at the Port of New York and New Jersey once on-going improvements at the port create additional switching capacity. CSXI expects this service to increase in-tact container movements at the port and help expedite traffic into the region.
CSX Intermodal looks forward to continuing efforts with the State of New York and PANYNJ to provide infrastructure to support the growing traffic movements through the port via intermodal rail.
