PORT AUTHORITY NAMES NEW WORLD TRADE CENTER DIRECTOR



Alan Reiss, a 14-year Port Authority veteran with experience in building systems, engineering and capital program management, has been appointed Director of the World Trade Center, Port Authority Executive Director Robert E. Boyle announced today.

Mr. Reiss will be responsible for managing the 10 million-square-foot complex. As Manager of World Trade Center Capital Programs, he was in charge of more than $500 million worth of redevelopment and modernization projects at the Center. Mr. Reiss has also been a member of the World Trade Center’s leasing team on major deals including Dean Witter Reynolds, Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Bank of America, Fuji Bank, and Banker’s Trust. He most recently served as General Property Manger of One World Trade Center.

He was instrumental in the World Trade Center’s recovery following the 1993 terrorist bombing. As Special Assistant to the Director, he managed the design and construction team that restored the World Trade Center’s infrastructure, allowing the Twin Towers to reopen within a month.

The Port Authority Board of Commissioners awarded Mr. Reiss the World Trade Center Medal Award for Acts of Valor in recognition of his actions on February 26, 1993. He was also awarded the World Trade Center Medal Award for Exceptional Service for his extraordinary accomplishments in restoring the World Trade Center. In 1994, he received the Port Authority Government & Community Affairs Director's Award for Outstanding Public Affairs Accomplishments in 1994.

Mr. Reiss is a Director of the Building Managers and Owners Association - New York, and is a Director of the Realty Advisory Board. He is certified as a real property administrator by the Building Owners & Managers Institute International. He holds a B.A. in engineering from Northeastern University in Boston.

Mr. Reiss resides in Oceanside, N.Y. with his wife. They have one child.
