Date: Aug 22, 2008
Press Release Number: 94-2008
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will feature a demonstration and photo opportunity of its recently installed Power Poles at Newark Liberty International Airport at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, in the area adjacent to the Terminal B Food Court.
Fifty 8 1/2-foot-tall stanchions, each wired with four outlets for public use, have been installed throughout each concourse of the airport's Terminals A, B, and C. The Power Poles are provided free of charge to the public.
This customer-service program made its U.S airport debut at John F. Kennedy International Airport in 2006, and expanded to LaGuardia Airport earlier this year. The Port Authority anticipates bringing Power Poles to other agency facilities.
In 2005, the Port Authority hired JCDecaux to work with the agency to identify revenue-enhancing opportunities through advertising at its facilities. The Power Poles feature advertising by Samsung.
