Press Release Number: 144-2001
Motorists arriving at Newark International Airport from Interstate 78 and Route 1 & 9 this weekend will see new and improved roadways as work continues on the airport’s Southern Access Roadway Project.
The new traffic pattern allows motorists to proceed to parking areas or directly to terminals, redirecting motorists before they reach the airport. This design streamlines the flow of traffic, making it more convenient for passengers to approach and exit terminal areas, and allows for better use of airport parking facilities.
The Southern Access Roadway Project will be completed in three phases, the first of which will be finished in the summer of 2002. Future improvements include the addition of a new ramp and bridge at the airport’s entrance, the widening of Brewster Road near the entrance, and the construction of new roadways south of the airport.
