PORT AUTHORITY STATEMENT ON PASSING OF AVIATION DIRECTOR WILLIAM R. DECOTA

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is extremely saddened by the passing Friday of its longtime aviation director, William R. DeCota. Bill was a national voice on major airport issues throughout his career, including initiatives to reduce flight delays and modernize aviation facilities and systems. He was 52 years old.
A resident of Old Bridge, NJ, Bill was named the Port Authority aviation director in December 1999, after serving as deputy director. He joined the agency in 1982 as a financial analyst.
During his tenure, Bill oversaw operations at John F. Kennedy International,
Newark Liberty International, LaGuardia, Stewart and Teterboro airports, with more than 100
million passengers using those facilities annually.
