Date: Aug 11, 2011
Press Release Number: 83-2011

(Princeton, NJ) Transportation infrastructure is vitally important to the economy, safety and quality of life for the millions of people who live, work and recreate in New Jersey and throughout the region. The Lincoln Tunnel, Bayonne Bridge and PATH system are examples of assets desperately in need of repair which required a significant investment by previous generations to construct. Their rehabilitation and upkeep requires no less an investment today.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ) has long advocated for substantial investment in our region's infrastructure. The Council supports critically needed improvements to the roads, bridges and rail systems that would be realized under the proposal recently unveiled by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.

"Revenues generated by the Port Authority's proposal will be directly reinvested in the repair and rehabilitation of some of New Jersey's most critical infrastructure assets," said ACECNJ President Joe Fiordaliso. "The Port Authority's plan is an important and necessary investment in New Jersey and our region."

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey is the leading advocate for New Jersey's consulting engineering profession, striving to enhance the business practices of professional engineering companies in the planning, design and construction industry. ACECNJ is comprised of over 120 engineering firms employing more than 5,500 people in New Jersey alone.
