EASTBOUND HOLLAND TUNNEL REOPENS TO CASH-PAYING CUSTOMERS AT 7 A.M. SATURDAY
Date: Mar 29, 2002
Press Release Number: 31-2002
Manhattan-bound lanes of the Holland Tunnel will reopen to cash-paying as well as E-ZPass customers beginning 7 a.m. Saturday, March 30, the Port Authority announced today.
Saturday’s reopening of staffed lanes for cash-paying customers will bring to six the total number of lanes available to travelers. The three center lanes will be dedicated for E-ZPass users and the three far-right lanes will be staffed. Three lanes on the far left will remain closed to facilitate the demolition of the private warehouse in Jersey City that caught fire last week and necessitated Holland Tunnel restrictions.
Motorists are still encouraged to use mass transit. Travelers also can use new ferry services from Hoboken to the World Financial Center and Hoboken to Pier 11. Commuters wanting up-to-date information can call 800 221-9903, tune in to media traffic reports for the latest news, or consult the Port Authority’s Web site, www.panynj.gov.
