FLIGHT OPERATIONS RESUME AT JFK AIRPORT

Date: Jan 03, 2014
Press Release Number: 4-2014

Flight operations have resumed at John F. Kennedy International Airport after zero visibility and high winds forced the suspension of operations this morning.

Port Authority staff worked tirelessly in adverse weather conditions to get JFK's Runway 13L-31R back in service. Since 6 a.m., 192 cancellations have been reported at the airport.

Crews continue to work to get the airport's three other runways back in operation as quickly as possible.

Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia airports are open. At Newark, the airport reports 285 cancellations and at LaGuardia, there are 271 cancellations.

Travelers are strongly urged to confirm flight times, departures and arrivals with the airline carriers before traveling to the airports.

AirTrain JFK is operating with limited service, and service on AirTrain Newark is suspended. Bus service is being provided at both airports.
