TRAVEL ADVISORY - BAYONNE BRIDGE TO CLOSE FOR PART OF WEEKEND TO ACCOMMODATE ONGOING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

The Port Authority announced today that the Bayonne Bridge will close for part of the upcoming weekend to accommodate ongoing construction work on the bridge project. The closing was scheduled in conjunction with other regional agencies to minimize traffic impacts.

The bridge will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 14, through 8 a.m. Sunday, August 16. The bridge will remain open from that point until 9 a.m. Monday, August 17, to accommodate those returning from the beaches and other vacation destinations. The bridge is closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays for daytime construction work.

The Bayonne Bridge shuttle service, which provides alternate transportation for pedestrians and cyclists, will operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 16.
