PORT AUTHORITY POLICE TO WELCOME 120 NEW OFFICERS

Police Academy Graduation Ceremonies to be Held Wednesday, December 4, At 10 a.m. at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Hackensack, N.J.

The Port Authority will welcome 120 new police officers to the bistate agency’s police force at a graduation ceremony to be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Hackensack, N.J.

The new recruits will help rebuild and strengthen the Port Authority’s police force, following the loss of 37 officers and commanders in the September 11 terrorist attacks. With the addition of the new recruits, the number of officers added to the Port Authority force this year will total 439. The new officers will help the agency secure the region’s airports, seaports, tunnels, bridges and mass transit facilities.

The ceremony will be held at Fairleigh Dickinson’s Rothman Center (see directions below).

Directions to Rothman Center, Fairleigh Dickinson University: Take the George Washington Bridge to Route 4 West. Exit Route 4 at Hackensack Avenue South. Proceed to first traffic light and turn left onto Temple Road. Follow Temple Road to end. Parking lot is on right. Rothman Center is directly past parking lot at end of road.
