Press Release Number: 30-2003

More than 100 members of the Port Authority Police Department, including its Honor Guard and Pipes and Drums, will take part in New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day parade on Monday, March 17. Many of these marchers were involved in rescue and recovery efforts that took place during and after the terror attacks on the World Trade Center.

On the day of the event, the Port Authority Police will congregate near the front of the parade on 45th Street between 5th and 6th avenues at 11:50 a.m. – 10 minutes prior to the start of the parade.

The Port Authority Police Department lost 37 officers and commanders in the September 11, 2001, attacks. Its officers patrol facilities operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, including some of the busiest and most important transportation links in the region.
