CAPTAIN KATHY MAZZA PARK - REVISED MEDIA ADVISORY

September 21 Ceremony Honors Port Authority Police Captain Killed in the September 11, 2001, Terrorist Attacks The Town of Oyster Bay, Long Island, will dedicate Captain Kathy Mazza Park – honoring the memory and heroism of the first female Port Authority Police officer to die in the line of duty – at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2003.
Captain Mazza saved countless lives during the evacuation of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Captain Mazza – a former operating room nurse who was commanding officer of the Port Authority Police Academy – was one of 37 Port Authority Police officers and commanders killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
At 11 a.m., there will be a 5K walkathon benefiting The Captain Kathy Mazza Memorial Foundation, which provides scholarships and grants to the Nassau Community College Nursing Program and the St. Francis Hospital Pediatric Cardiac Care Facility.
