MEDIA ADVISORY - RENOWNED ARCHITECT TO PUBLICLY PRESENT DESIGNS FOR WORLD TRADE CENTER TRANSPORTATION HUB

Date: Jan 20, 2004
Press Release Number: 4-2004

Design concepts for the Port Authority’s World Trade Center Transportation Hub will be publicly presented by world-famous architect Santiago Calatrava during a news conference at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2004, at the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden.

New York Governor George E. Pataki and other dignitaries will join Mr. Calatrava to discuss the transportation hub, which will provide Lower Manhattan with a major transportation facility similar to Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan.

The Downtown Design Partnership, in association with Mr. Calatrava, is designing the $2 billion World Trade Center Transportation Hub. It will include a Permanent PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) Terminal that will serve tens of thousands of commuters between New Jersey and Lower Manhattan, and will provide pedestrian connections that will link ferries and subway lines across the downtown area.

Media can begin setting up at the Winter Garden at 9 a.m. A live feed of the event will be available from NY1. To access the feed, media can go to the switch beginning at 10:45 a.m. For more information, call NY1 at 212 379-3456.
