Work Will Close One of Two NJ-Bound Lanes During Overnight Hours
Work to replace the Holland Tunnel’s fire standpipe system in the New Jersey–bound tube will begin Monday, October 18, during the overnight hours. The work will take approximately one year to complete and is part of an ongoing project to upgrade and modernize the tunnel’s fire protection system. Similar work in the eastbound tube of the Holland Tunnel began in February 2003, and is nearing completion.
One lane of the New Jersey-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will close Mondays through Thursdays from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., and Saturdays from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m.
To avoid delays, motorists are advised use the Lincoln Tunnel as an alternate route.
