Date: Oct 21, 2004
Press Release Number: 126-2004
The Port Authority Board of Commissioners today approved the appointment of Kenneth J. Ringler Jr. to the position of Executive Director.
Mr. Ringler, who had been New York State Commissioner of General Services, was nominated for the position by Governor George E. Pataki. He succeeds Joseph J. Seymour, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
“Joe Seymour’s legacy is one that I will be proud to build upon, from the vital work that lies ahead in Lower Manhattan to the continued improvement of our transportation infrastructure,” Mr. Ringler said. “I thank Governor Pataki for his trust in me, and I look forward to working closely with Chairman Coscia, Vice Chairman Gargano, the members of the Board, and the many fine and talented people of the Port Authority in order to provide the best in public service to the people of this region.”
Prior to being named Commissioner of the Office of General Services, Mr. Ringler was Executive Deputy Commissioner at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and First Deputy Secretary of State. His extensive career in government and business also includes positions as Supervisor of the Town of Bethlehem, Chairman of the town’s Planning Board, and Chairman of the Emergency Financial Control Board for the City of Yonkers. He is a past member of the Capital District Transportation Committee, past President of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce, and past President of the Bishop Maginn High School Board of Education.
