Date: Feb 04, 2005 Press Release Number: 5-2005
Speed Limit Reduction and Toll Lane Closings Begin Preparation For Program’s Debut Before Start of Summer Travel Season
Construction on the Outerbridge Crossing’s Highway Speed E-ZPass Toll Plaza Program will begin on Monday, February 7. The work will require three E-ZPass Only lanes on the left-hand side of the toll plaza to be closed, with five right-hand lanes remaining open to traffic. The speed limit at all remaining E-ZPass Only Lanes will be reduced to 15 mph. The mixed-use toll lanes that handle both cash paying and E-ZPass customers will remain at 5 mph.
These changes will be in place before the start of the summer travel season. Signs on approach roads and at the toll plaza will advise motorists of the speed limit reduction.
