AFRICAN-AMERICAN CUISINE IS ON THE MENU DURING BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION AT LAGUARDIA AIRPORT

Date: Feb 16, 2001
Press Release Number: 19-2001

Travelers using LaGuardia Airport will be treated to sumptuous soul food personally prepared by the Executive Chef of world-renowned Figs Restaurant on Thursday, February 22. The occasion will be customer appreciation day and, to celebrate, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. airport customers will be offered free samples of collard greens, coconut rice, candied yams, peach cobbler and chicken - jerked or fried.
\"We are always looking for new, innovative ways to thank our customers for their support,\" said Warren Kroeppel, General Manager of LaGuardia Airport. \"This is why we\'ve teamed up with Figs. What better way is there to show our appreciation than to serve them some of the world\'s finest food prepared by one of the world\'s excellent eateries? This is also an opportunity to show off the newest addition to our food court.\"

Serving LaGuardia Airport customers since last year, Todd English\'s Figs restaurant is the first Figs to open in an airport anywhere in the world. In Style magazine\'s January issue listed Figs at LaGuardia on its \"Hot List\" of the \"50 must-haves\" around the world for 2001.
