MEDIA ADVISORY - PORT AUTHORITY POLICE HEROES TO MARCH IN NEW YORK CITY’S ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Date: Mar 16, 2005
Press Release Number: 29-2005

More than 100 members of the Port Authority Police Department, including its Honor Guard and award-winning Pipes and Drums, will march in New York City’s St. Patrick’s Day parade on Thursday, March 17. Many of these marchers were involved in the rescue and recovery efforts that took place during and after the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The officers will be joined by Port Authority Executive Director Kenneth J. Ringler Jr. and family members of the 37 Port Authority police officers and commanders killed in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The Port Authority contingent is scheduled to congregate at the front of the parade at 45th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues at 11:40 a.m., 20 minutes before the parade begins.

The Pipes and Drums also are scheduled to participate in a St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Pearl River, N.Y., at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
