The Port Authority will launch construction of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6.
The transportation hub, which will be operational in 2009, will feature seamless pedestrian connections to existing and future transportation services, such as ferries at the World Financial Center and Metropolitan Transportation Authority subway lines. World-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava designed the facility.
Media covering the event must have proper credentials and can enter the World Trade Center site at the gate located at the corner of West and Vesey streets. The gate will open at 9:30 a.m. Television trucks will be allowed to park inside the gate, but no other parking will be available on site. Media must be inside the gate no later than 10:30 a.m.
