TRAFFIC ADVISORY - THOUSANDS OF MOTORCYCLISTS TO PARTICIPATE WEDNESDAY IN GOOCH’S GARLIC RUN THROUGH HOLLAND TUNNEL
Date: Jun 20, 2006
Press Release Number: 44-2006
The Holland Tunnel will remain open to traffic Wednesday night, June 21, when approximately 2,000 motorcyclists are scheduled to travel through the tunnel from Morris County, N.J., to Little Italy in Lower Manhattan as part of the 19th Annual Gooch’s Garlic Run held by the New Jersey Chapter of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club.
The benefit raises money for children with catastrophic illnesses. It begins at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall at 6:30 p.m.
Motorists are advised that the north side (left side) of 12th Street in Jersey City will be closed from approximately 7 to 9:30 p.m. to accommodate participants entering the tunnel. In addition, the leftmost lanes of the toll plaza and the left side of the exit Rotary in New York will be dedicated for the benefit run’s use. Motorists should expect delays and may want to use the Lincoln Tunnel as an alternate route.
Since the run’s inception 19 years ago, the Port Authority, which operates the Holland Tunnel, has worked closely with organizers to make the event a success.
