JOHN F. KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT REDEVELOPMENT
The $10.3 billion JFK Redevelopment Program combines new construction with expansion projects by the Port Authority and major tenants. Improvements include rail access, new and redeveloped terminals, a new roadway system, upgraded utilities and new parking garages.
Port Authority Infrastructure
Improvements include:
Roadways – A more efficient road system in the Central Terminal Area, scheduled for completion in 2001, will allow passengers to get to their terminals more quickly

Parking Garages – Providing more than 5,700 spaces for travelers $210 million
Utilities – Scheduled for completion in 2001, new and upgraded utilities will provide additional capacity for terminal development and expansion $410 million
Aviation Infrastructure – A series of projects outside the Central Terminal Area includes improvements to runways, taxiways and fueling facilities $620 million
Subtotal – Port Authority Infrastructure Improvements $1.8 billion
Port Authority Rail Access – AirTrain $1.9 billion

Terminal Redevelopment
Improvements include:
Terminal 1 – The partnership of Air France, Japan Airlines, Korean Air and Lufthansa opened the new Terminal 1 in 1998 $435 million
Terminal 4 – JFK International Air Terminal LLC, a consortium of LCOR, Inc., Schiphol USA LLC and Lehman Brothers, Inc., will finish rebuilding this premier international gateway in 2001 $1.4 billion
Terminals 5/6 – United Airlines plans to build a new terminal behind Terminal 5, while preserving the integrity of the historic Saarinen Building. The redevelopment also includes projected investment by JetBlue Airways $1 billion
Terminal 7 – In a joint effort, British Airways and the Port Authority will renovate and expand the terminal, and improve road access and parking, by 2001 $260 million
Terminals 8/9 – American Airlines will convert these two terminals into one 57-gate terminal, which will be the largest at the airport, by 2006 $1.4 billion
Projected Additional Terminal Redevelopment (Delta Air Lines) $1.5 billion
