MEDIA ADVISORY - FORT LEE FILM COMMISSION AND PORT AUTHORITY TO HOST GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL

Date: Sep 13, 2006
Press Release Number: 66-2006

In celebration of the George Washington Bridge’s 75th anniversary, the Fort Lee Film Commission and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will host a four-part film retrospective entitled, “A View From The Bridge: 75th Anniversary of the George Washington Bridge – The George Washington Bridge on Film,” beginning Saturday, September 16.

All films feature the iconic George Washington Bridge, which opened to traffic on October 25, 1931. The bridge – built and operated by the Port Authority – today carries the distinction of being the world’s only 14-lane suspension bridge. It is home to the world’s largest free-flying flag. The bridge has played a role in many movies and is the subject of several books.

The film schedule is as follows:

All films will be shown at the Fort Lee Historic Park Theater near Hudson Terrace in Fort Lee, N.J. Admission is free. For more information about the film festival, call 201 592-3663 or visit www.fortleefilm.org.
