REVISED TRAFFIC ADVISORY - GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE REPAVING PROJECT CANCELLED FOR FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING
Date: Oct 27, 2006
Press Release Number: 87-2006
The repaving project for three of four eastbound upper-level lanes of the George Washington Bridge scheduled for 10 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. tomorrow is cancelled due to inclement weather.
The project will still take place tomorrow night from 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday, October 29. The Palisades Interstate Parkway toll plaza also will be closed during this period.
As trucks are restricted to the upper level of the bridge at all times, truck drivers should expect to encounter significant delays during these hours, and are strongly urged to consider alternative routes to New York City, such as the Lincoln Tunnel and Tappan Zee Bridge.
Motorists are strongly urged to use the lower level or consider using the Lincoln Tunnel as an alternate route into Manhattan. Staffed toll lanes will be available on the lower level for cash-paying automobile customers during this overnight closure.
