PORT AUTHORITY TO UNVEIL FULL-SIZE MODEL OF NEW PATH RAIL CARS

The Port Authority will unveil a full-size mock-up of one of its new PATH cars at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, at PATH's Harrison Car Maintenance Facility in Harrison, N.J.

The mock-up will contain new customer amenities that will be available when the new cars begin to be phased into service later this year, including closed-circuit television screens that will provide news, weather and sports information.

The new PATH cars are part of the Port Authority's planned $3.3 billion, 10-year investment to overhaul the PATH system and increase capacity by 25 percent.

A brief news conference will be held prior to a tour of the new car model.

Directions to the Harrison Car Maintenance Facility:

From the Holland Tunnel: As you exit the tunnel, stay on the left through several traffic lights. After Jersey Avenue, bear left to take the Route 139 underpass to the Pulaski Skyway. Take the Pulaski Skyway over two bridges. Stay in the right lane. Exit at Raymond Boulevard sign Go straight to merge onto Raymond Boulevard and stay on the right. Bear right over the Jackson Ave Bridge (blue bridge into Harrison) At the first light, make a right onto Cape May Street to the Harrison Car Maintenance Facility and follow the road to the end. A security guard will direct you to parking area.

From NJ Turnpike: Take exit at 15E, Newark, and look for local roads to Raymond Boulevard. Take Raymond Boulevard for 1 to 2 miles and bear right onto the Jackson Avenue Bridge, on the right . Once over the bridge, make first right turn onto Cape May Street to the Harrison Car Maintenance Facility and follow the road to the end. A security guard will direct you to the parking area.

From Route 280: Take exit 16 for Harrison. From the east, make a right onto Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard . Follow Rodgers Boulevard to end. Just before the bridge, make a left onto Cape May Street to the HCMF (Harrison Car Maintenance Facility) and follow the road to the end. A security guard will direct you to the parking area. From the west, make a left onto Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard . Follow Rodgers Boulevard to end, just before the bridge, make a left onto Cape May Street to the HCMF and follow the road to the end. A security guard will direct you to the parking area.
