TRAFFIC ADVISORY - MAJOR PAVING PROJECT WILL REQUIRE GWB LANE CLOSINGS DURING OVERNIGHT HOURS BEGINNING THIS WEEKEND

Three of four eastbound upper-level lanes of the George Washington Bridge will be closed during overnight
weekend hours beginning Friday, April 4, to accommodate a multiyear project to repave the bridge deck.
The paving project is part of the Port Authority's $1.3 billion, 10-year capital investment in the bridge to keep it safe
and in a state of good repair. The bridge deck was last paved in 1997.
The lane closings will occur from 10 p.m. Fridays through 10 a.m. Saturdays, and from 10 p.m. Saturdays through 10
a.m. Sundays, weather permitting.
During the lane closings, automobile traffic will be diverted to the bridge's lower level and lower-level lanes will be op
en to accept cash or E-ZPass. Trucks still will be required to use the one available lane on the bridge's upper level.
Customers approaching the bridge from the Palisades Interstate Parkway entrance will be diverted to the lower level.
Significant delays may result during the lane closings, and customers are urged to use the Lincoln and Holland tunnel
s or the Tappan Zee Bridge as alternates to cross the Hudson River. The project is scheduled to be completed in Oct
