The Port Authority will open two crisis counseling centers for Port Authority employees affected by Tuesday\'s terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center.
The centers will open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, and will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice. One will be at the Marriot Hotel at Newark International Airport, and the other at the Ramada Inn and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The centers will be staffed by trained specialists, including grief counselors, medical personnel, experts in medical insurance and other areas of concern. Approximately 2,000 of the Port Authority\'s 7,000 were assigned to the World Trade Center. Employees are asked to bring proof of employment and any documentation necessary for claims.
At JFK, the center can be reached at 718 751-8200. At Newark, the center number is 973 642-0167.
Starting at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, there will be a new number for family members, colleagues, and friends to call with questions or information concerning the status of Port Authority employees who were in the World Trade Center at the time of the attack. The new number is 973 624-6203. This number is not for use by the general public, or for inquiries about transportation or other matters.
