Press Release Number: 135-2008
"We welcome the Administration's announcement about opening military airspace for the holiday travel season, which we have said previously should be put in place permanently. But more important, we call on the Bush Administration to cease its 11th-hour-and-59th-minute attempt to implement a slot auction scheme that will raise ticket prices and reduce choices for our customers, while doing nothing to provide relief from air traffic delays.
"The right thing is to finally invest in an overhaul of the FAA's 1950s-era air traffic control system to provide greater airspace capacity and reduce congestion for fliers."
