Tribute Planned for 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in Theater at Madison Square Garden
The 74 Port Authority police and civilian employees lost in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center – and the countless agency heroes who responded to the scene – will be honored at 4 p.m. Thursday during a remembrance at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. The World Trade Center housed the offices of approximately 2,000 Port Authority administrative staff.
As a further tribute to agency staff, the world’s largest free-flying flag will be flown at the George Washington Bridge on Thursday night, illuminated by the lights in the bridge’s two towers.
Media interested in covering the service should enter through the Madison Square Garden employee entrance at 8 Penn Plaza. Media are encouraged to arrive early because security clearance will be required.
