Press Release Number: 166-2001
Passengers will now be able to by-pass traffic at the heavily used Terminal C with today’s opening of a new roadway at Newark International Airport.
Ramps to the new roadway will be open from the Terminal B arrival and departure levels, as well as from the existing express roadway from Terminal A. The new three-lane express roadway will connect directly to the airport’s exit lanes.
This event is an important milestone in the Port Authority’s overall plan to enhance the roadway system in and around the airport. Still in progress is the construction of a new at-grade roadway, which will give passengers direct access to all short-term terminal parking and will alleviate frontage congestion. Finally, a major roadway improvement is under way connecting the airport with the New Jersey Turnpike at Exit 13A.
These roadway improvements are part of a $3.8 billion redevelopment program at Newark International Airport, which includes parking garages, rail access and enhanced terminal facilities.
