Press Release Number: 2-2002

With a wintry mix of rain, ice and snow moving throughout the region late Sunday and early Monday, the Port Authority encourages airport customers to contact individual airlines before heading to the airports.

The wintry mix is expected to slow the commute over the Port Authority crossings on Monday morning. Commuters are advised to allow additional time for their early morning trips.

In anticipation of the storm front, the Port Authority activated \"snow desks\" at its tansportation facilities where key personnel analyze weather reports, deploy staff and dispatch equipment where needed.

The Port Authority\'s winter-weather arsenal includes more than 200 pieces of heavy equipment and thousands of tons of salt, sand and deicing chemicals at airports, bridges, tunnels and PATH.
