“Quiet flying’’ awards will be presented by Port Authority officials
Oct. 19 at the National Business Aviation Association’s meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.
Twenty-four companies and individuals have earned Teterboro Airport’s “Good Neighbor Awards” for helping to reduce aircraft noise at the busy Bergen County airport.
“There is no better venue than the annual convention of the National Business Aviation Association to present our Good Neighbor Awards,” said Rich Heslin, Teterboro’s airport manager.
The Port Authority launched the “Good Neighbor Awards” in 2004 to acknowledge operators who avoided violations of airport noise rules and late-night operations. The annual awards program has become part of the Teterboro Airport Industry Working Group, formed by Port Authority Chairman Anthony R. Coscia to improve safety, security and reduce noise at the airport.
“Aircraft noise levels, noise violations and noise complaints have also declined steadily since 2006, thanks in large part to the efforts of our operators,” said Gabriel Andino, Teterboro’s noise abatement manager.
The following companies and individuals are being honored:
Barnes & Noble, American Electric Power, Robert J. Borghi, Catawba Corporation, Classic Aviation, David Edell, Evertz Microsystems, Jeffrey Buckalew-Coolstream LLC., Jon A. Wurtzburger, K Services, Limited Brands, Macklowe Properties, Manhattan Helicopters, Meredith Corporation, NCR Corporation, New York Helicopter Charter, R & F Wings, Travelers, Twin Cities Aviation, VF Corporation, Wal-Mart Aviation, Wham Leasing Corporation, White Mountain Capital and Wings Air.
