Actions Help Meet Port Authority’s Mission to Build Regional Infrastructure and Drive Economic Growth
At its monthly meeting this afternoon, the Port Authority Board of Commissioners took the following actions:
- Authorized a $24.3 million project for the relocation of certain roadways at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The roadway relocations are needed to accommodate the future extension of Runway 4L-22R. The project will generate 2,460 jobs and $146.9 million in wages
- Authorized $6 million in planning for the future rehabilitation, extension and widening of Runway 4L-22R at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The work will generate 130 jobs and $8.1 million in wages.
- Authorized $3.7 million in planning for certain roadway improvements at Port Newark to increase roadway capacity, improve traffic flow and enhance safety. The work will generate 490 jobs and $29.6 million in wages.
- Authorized an increase of $3.2 million for the redevelopment of the George Washington Bridge Bus Station, a $180 million public-private partnership that will create 746 new jobs.
- Authorized a Memorandum of Understanding with the New Energy and Industrial Organization of Japan to define a joint research and demonstration project for possible implementation at Port Authority or PATH facilities in the areas of clean energy, energy efficiency, smart grid or smart city technology.
- Authorized the award of a construction trade contract for superstructure concrete for the World Trade Center Vehicle Security Center and Tour Bus Parking Facility to Navillus Contracting.
- Authorized the award of a construction trade contract for ventilation for the World Trade Center Vehicle Security Center and Tour Bus Parking Facility to ASM Mechanical Systems.
- Authorized the award of a construction trade contract to furnish and install glass metal panels and entrance doors for the Oculus of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
- Authorized the award of a contract to HAKS, Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors for special inspections and monitoring inspections services for the Port Authority projects at the WTC site.
- Authorized the award of a construction trade contract to Five Star Electric Corp. for fire alarm devices and related infrastructure for the World Trade Center retail and parking projects.
- Authorized the award of a construction trade contract to Schneider Electric Buildings America, Inc., for independent building automation and temperature control systems for the World Trade Center retail and parking projects.
- Authorized funding agreements with the Alliance for Downtown New York Inc. for services it provides for the Lower Manhattan community.
- Authorized a program to implement certain work along the perimeter of the WTC site that will allow the National September 11 Memorial Foundation to safely open the World Trade Center Memorial Plaza to the public on the day following the September 11, 2011 ceremony.
